Considered to be the most remarkable area of
the “outside Mani”, as the locals call the Messinian Mani. In
the seniority Kardamili was one very important harbor of Sparti.
Homer mentions that Agamemnon’s included Kardamili to the 6 more
cities which he offered to Achilles so that he would return to
battle during the siege of Troja. Between the sights stands the
grave of Dioskuri, the Byzantine church of saint Spiridon, built of
6th century, the ancient Acropolis, her middle age
castle, built of the 12th century, while 300 meters from
the shore is the little island called “Meropi” with ruins of
Henetics walls.
The distance from Kalamata is 38 klm. Kardamili
has many beautifull beaches, rooms for rent, hotels, taverns with
traditional food, fish-taverns and open bars for night-life.
